Marketing Agency Established

In Quebec there is a new marketing agency for organic produce. The ABC (Agriculteurs biologiques certifiées) group is located in Montréal close to the central market. Producers must be certified organic and pay approximately $500 for permanent membership. In addition, producers may invest in the form of stocks.

The Only Yogourt of its Kind in Canada

For 3 years now, Eco-DŽlices, located in Pessisville, Quebec, has been producing organic yogourt. Milk from their certified dairy herd is brought to the processing plant by means of a special pipe system. In comparison to regular yogourt, which is produced by adding milk powder, Eco-DŽlice uses ultrafiltration to remove 40% of the water content. The result is yogourt with 1% butterfat content. After fermentation, maple syrup may be added to give it a special flavor.
