INTRODUCE YOURSELF TO HOLISTIC RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

By Tony McQuail

Noel McNaughton, an EFAO member from Alberta, edits the Newsletter "The Holistic Manager". He has been giving workshops on Holistic Resource Management (HRM) for a number of years. Noel will be in Ontario in July, and would like to present two overview sessions on Holistic Resource Management. Hopefully, the turnout at these would indicate whether there's enough interest to set up a series of full-scale workshops for the following winter.

Holistic Resource Management was developed by Alan Savory. It is based on the recognition that our crops and livestock are part of a larger system - the farm. This in turn, is part of larger systems which eventually make up the global ecosystem. As we try to manage parts of our system, we have to keep in mind how they are effected by, and will affect, the others. HRM also stresses the importance of the people involved in the farm, and the need to develop shared goals to work towards.

Noel plans to do evening overview sessions on Wednesday, July 20th in the Leamington area, and on Thursday July 21st in the Wroxeter area. The EFAO needs volunteers to help organize these events. If you would be able to help, or would like to know more please contact Tony McQuail. (Watch for confirmation of the dates, and notice of the time and locations in the next newsletter.)
