Welcome

We apologize for the delay in getting this issue out. We've had to cut back radically on our staff hours and resources have been stretched to the limit.

That said, we hope you'll find that this issue was worth waiting for. We're featuring an examination of the potential for reductions in pesticide use, viewed through the lens of Stuart Hill's Efficiency-Substitution-Redesign model for the transition to sustainability.

Sales of certified organic foods continue to grow exponentially -- and the food industry has begun to notice. We look at the response of the industry giants to the growing consumer interest in eco-labelled foods.

To round out the issue, we highlight the Toronto Food Policy Council's analysis of the implications of the licensing of Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH) for use in Canada.
